(.1.)
Create a new image in
Photoshop with the
dimensions of 480x360, white background.
Alright, let's start off by making a large 'A'.
Use any font, and keep the size around 300.
Name the layer 'Letter', paint the layer
solid black, and place it in the center of the image.

(.2.)
Now use Layer
> Duplicate Layer to make
a copy of the letter. Name it 'Shadow' and place the
new layer under the original layer. Turn off 'Preserve Transparency'
and use Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and set
the radius to somewhere around 3.5. Offset the shadow
layer down and to the right about 7 pixels.
This should create a shadowed look.

(.3.)
Next step is to create
the shiny highlight
reflections on the surface of the object.
This won't create the 3D look yet.
Move back to the layer 'Letter' and go
to Filter > Artistic > Plastic wrap.
Set the highlight strength to 20, detail
between 2 and 10, and smoothness between
4 and 8. Run the filter twice.
Now run a Filter > Blur > Blur More.
Use this filter once or twice, depending on your taste.

(.4.)
Now that the reflection
highlights are in place,
use Filter > Eye Candy > Inner Bevel.
**Make sure 'Preserve Transparency' is off!**
Inner Bevel settings should be as follows:
Bevel Width: Between 15 and 30
Bevel Shape: Button
Smoothness: Between 7 and 10
Shadow Depth: Between 20 and 25
Highlight Brightness: 100
Highlight Sharpness: 2 to 6
Direction: 215
Inclination: 40

After this, you're done!
Hopefully you've learned
something from this tutorial.
