| shiny metalish effect |
| [vinkka ) whats the basic for the metalsih
shinny part of it [Shea|blah ) mainly drawing the shapes of the metallic borders with the line-marquee tool (the lasso tool that draws lines)... [Shea|blah ) and doing that in Quickmask mode [Shea|blah ) then smoothing the shape by about 6 pixels [Shea|blah ) and then stroking the marquee shape in the center by about 6 to 8 pixels [Shea|blah ) then shading it with a light-gray to dark-gray gradient [Shea|blah ) er, shade it after making the quick mask into a layer [Shea|blah ) and then turning off preserve transparency and using EC3 glass [Shea|blah ) remember, that's all just a guess :) [Shea|blah ) another thing you could do to get a chrome reflection-ish look would be... [Shea|blah ) take the layer after shading it and doing the glass filter... [Shea|blah ) and then turn the layer into a selection (Ctrl+click on the layer) [Shea|blah ) and then contract the selection by 4 pixels (more or less, depending on the thickness of the layer) [Shea|blah ) and then offset the selection down and to the right by about 3 pixels (more or less, again depending on the layer thickness) [Shea|blah ) and then making a new layer via copy (ctrl+j) off of the orig. layer [Shea|blah ) and turning on 'preserve transparency' on the new layer, and paint it black [Shea|blah ) turn off 'preserve transparency', and then do a guassian blur with a 0.5 - 1.0 blur radius [Shea|blah ) that might look cool [Shea|blah ) then again might not.. [Shea|blah ) just guessing again :) |
